Meta has announced Quest 3, its next-generation virtual and mixed reality headset. It will launch this fall with prices starting at $499.99 for a 128GB headset, with an additional storage option also planned. Meta Quest 3 “features higher resolution, stronger performance, breakthrough Meta Reality technology, and a slimmer, more comfortable headset”, itsaid. Meta also announced that starting on June 4, it will cut the Quest 2 price to $299.99 for the 128GB version, meaning it will cost the same as it did prior to a$100 price increase in August 2022....

The monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds’ open beta moved around more than they should have due to a bug, the game’s director has told VGC. Capcomran an Open Beta period for the game which started on October 29 onPS5Plus, and November 1 on PS5,Xbox Series X/SandSteam. The beta ended for everyone on November 4. Although players generally enjoyed the beta, one of the most common complaints was that the monsters ran away too often....

Nintendo used Wednesday’s Indie World presentation to show off a host of games coming to Switch. Highlights of the show included the announcement that acclaimed music puzzle gameTetris Effect is coming to Switch in October, andthe surprise launch of Axiom Verge 2 today. New World Aeternum, a reworked version of Amazon’s first-party MMORPG for console, is coming on Jul 04, 2025. Nintendo has announced that it will be increasing the price of Switch in the US due to “market conditions”. In a statement on the officialNintendowebsite, the company stated that “pricing for the originalNintendo Switchfamily of systems and products will change in the United States based on market conditions, effective June 13, 2025.” While it hasn’t yet specified whether this means prices will decrease or increase, the nature of the statement and the current situation regarding trade tariffs means it’s almost certainly the latter....

Nintendo has revealed more information on Donkey Kong Bananza, a month ahead of its release. The company broadcast a 17-minuteNintendo Directpresentation focused solely on Bananza, showing more of the game’s plot and gameplay. Most notably, the game shows that Donkey Kong will be accompanied by a child version of long-time series character Pauline, who dreams of becoming a singer. Pauline is the alter ego of Odd Rock, the strange purple rock that was accompanying Donkey Kong in the early gameplay footage shown in recent months....

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has said the company has no current plans to cut Switch hardware prices. With the September launch of Switch Lite at a lower price point than the flagship Switch, a shareholder suggested duringNintendo’s six-month financial results briefing that the company wouldn’t need to lower the Switch price in the next couple of years. Responding to this, Nintendo presidentShuntaro Furukawasaid: “We want to maintain the value of our products and sell them at their current price points for as long as possible, so we have no plans to reduce prices at this time....

Nintendo has removed several references to VRR support from the official Nintendo Switch 2 website. As part ofNintendo‘sNintendo Switch 2reveal, the firm announced that the new console would support 4K, 120FPS, and VRR. Now, Nintendo has seemingly removed mentions of VRR from several official websites. Nintendo Switch continued to lead US hardware sales in May, while Mortal Kombat 11 retained the top spot on the monthly software chart, according to data from market research firm the NPD Group. Sony has revealed November 2024’s PlayStation Plus Essential games. Next month’s firstPlayStationPlus titles will be Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged (PS4,PS5),Ghostwire: Tokyo(PS5) and Death Note Killer Within (PS4, PS5). All three games will be available for PlayStation Plus members to claim from November 5, which is Death Note Killer Within’s release date. Octopath Traveler 2 is coming to Xbox consoles and Windows PC. An “early 2024” release window for theSquare EnixRPG was announced duringXbox’sTokyo Game Showbroadcast on Thursday. Octopath Traveler2’s Xbox and Windows reveal trailer is viewable below. The original Octopath Traveler was released in 2018 and has sold over three million copies acrossNintendo Switch,PC,Xbox OneandStadia, according to Square Enix. The number of games industry job losses announced in January is already more than half the total job losses in the entirety of 2023. Technical artist Farhan Noor’s website,Video Games Layoffs,has been tracking confirmed games industry job cuts since the start of last year.
