Ubisoft plans to close its Ubisoft London studio. The studio, which was originally known as Future Games of London, was founded in 2009 and acquired byUbisoftin 2013. It was renamed Ubisoft London earlier this year. Ubisoft London focuses mainly on mobile games, and is best known for the Hungry Shark series, which has achieved over 1 billion downloads in total to date. However, in recent years the series has been partly developed by Ubisoft BarcelonaMobile, and Ubisoft has now decided to fully shift development of the series to the Catalan studio....

Open-world vampire survival game V Rising has surpassed one million sales during its first week, its developer has claimed. The game is developed by Stunlock Studios, a 35-person outfit based in Sweden which has been majority owned by Chinese gaming giantTencentsince July 2021. Priced at £15.49, V Rising released intoSteamEarly Access on May 17 and had surpassed 500,000 copies sold within three days. The man in charge of Donkey Kong’s design in Donkey Kong Country has welcomed the character’s latest redesign. On Wednesday,NintendoannouncedDonkey Kong Bananza, a new 3D platformer starring the emotional gorilla. The game’s trailer confirmed a new look for Donkey Kong, which appears to be a cross between the version seen in the Super Mario Bros Movie, and that seen in pre-Donkey Kong Country artwork in games such as the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong....

The co-founder of CD Projekt Red says the studio has learned over time that it should stick to what it knows best. In the company’s official AnsweRED podcast, co-founderMarcin Iwińskiand joint-CEOAdam Badowskiwere discussing the biggest challenges which are faced during game production. A new patch for Sonic Frontiers fixes numerous issues, including a reports of a disappearing boss. Ransomware group Ransomed.vc claims to have successfully breached Sony Group and is threatening to sell a cache of data stolen from the Japanese company. While its claims remain unverified,Cyber Security Connectreports that the relative ransomware newcomer “has racked up an impressive amount of victims” since bursting onto the scene last month. “We have successfully compromissed [sic] all of sony systems,” the group claimed on both the clear and dark nets....

An actor has claimed that he will be starring in 2024’s Call of Duty title. Amazon has announced plans to cut over 100 employees from its video games division. In a memo to staff obtained byCNBC,Amazon Gamesvice president Christoph Hartmann said the layoffs would be spread across the company’s Game Growth group, its San Diego development studio, and Prime Gaming. Some employees will also be reassigned to other projects “that match our strategic focus“, he said. The cuts in Amazon’s games division are part of wider restructuring efforts at the company....
