Apple has said it won’t consider letting Fortnite back on the App Store until its legal battle with Epic Games is complete, which might not be for several years. Epic recently confirmed it was launching an appeal against the decision in its antitrust lawsuit againstApple,which saw the judge in the case rule against the Fortnite makerin nine of the 10 counts it had brought against the iPhone firm. The legal battle began in August 2020 afterEpic moved to circumvent Apple’s platform feeswith a new direct payment option inFortnite, leading tothe game’s removal from the App Storeand thetermination of Epic’s developer account....

Obisidian has shown off new gameplay footage from its upcoming game Avowed. Shown during today’sMicrosoftandBethesdaDeveloper Direct, the new footage – which can be seen embedded above or on theObsidian YouTube channel– included a closer look at the game’s combat system. Players can choose between a variety of weapons, from standard swords and shields to guns or magic wands. The footage also shows how players can mix their weapons for a wider range of attacks....

Despite suggestions otherwise, it appears that Bam Margera will indeed be included in the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, according to a new claim. Earlier this year, whenActivisionfirst announced the remake collection, it also announced a list of skaters planned to be featured in the game. Bungie has won the latest in a string of legal victories against Destiny 2 cheat sellers. As spotted byAxios, Lavicheats has been ordered to payBungie$6.7 million in damages. Roughly $5.6 million of the award was for violations of the DMCA, $300,000 for violations of the Copyright Act, $580,000 for violations of the Lanham Act, and $240,000 for attorney fees and costs. The ruling was a default judgment after the defendant failed to respond to the lawsuit, which was filed in 2021....

Bungie fired its former Marathon game director after multiple allegations of misconduct by female staff, according to a new report. Earlier this year formerValorantgame director Joe Zieglerannounced that he had taken over as Marathon game director, amidst reports that former game director Christopher Barrett had left the company. A new Bloomberg reportnow claims that Barrett was fired byBungieafter being accused of inappropriate behaviour. Barrett – who had previously worked as an artist, art director and game director on theHaloandDestinygames – was assigned as game director on Marathon before leaving the company in March, as per previous reports....

Activision has confirmed that the mobile version of Call of Duty Warzone has entered closed alpha testing. In the first in a series of planned updates throughout the development process, the publishersaidthe upcoming mobile battle royale game is codenamed ‘Project Aurora’. Activisionis “in the midst” of the title’s first gameplay test, which is currently only accessible via direct invitation. “Our mission with Project Aurora, the codename for our new mobile title, is to bring friends, families, and people around the world together in a global community of diverse players with a fast-paced, precise, and high-quality battle royale action experience that delivers a fresh new way to play,” Activision said....

CD Project is considering licensing out its Cyberpunk or The Witcher IP for use in mobile games. As part of a Q&A following an earnings conference for the publisher’s FY2023 earnings, one caller asked: “Have you considered licensing either of your big IPs to third parties to make mobile games?” They then asked how this would work from a business standpoint, whether it would be a one-off licensing fee or a profit-sharing agreement....

The revamped PlayStation Plus has now launched in Europe, and a number of classic PlayStation games are the 50Hz PAL versions, but Sony claims the option to switch to 60Hz is on the way. VGC has tested all 13 PS1 games currently available on the service, and at least seven of them appear to be based on the PAL version. PAL versions of games generally run at a lower speed than their NTSC counterparts, because of the different refresh rates of each frequency....

Dead Space creator Glen Schofield will announce a new story-based PUBG title at The Game Awards this week. The formerSledgehammerand Visceral general manager was appointed as CEO of a newPUBG Corporationdevelopment studiocalled Striking Distance in 2019. At the time, he said PUBG Corporation was keen to expand the series beyond battle royale and that he was planning to craft “an original narrative experience in thePUBGuniverse”.
