Bethesda has announced that Doom Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online will be released for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Players who own or purchase either title onXbox OneorPlayStation 4will be able to upgrade for free to the next-gen versions when they’re available, it said. Additionally, both titles will support backwards compatibility when the new consoles launch. Doom: The Dark Ages is a video game as described by a 15-year-old goth. There are dragons, beheadings, medieval castles made of skulls, pounding heavy metal, and constant challenge. At times, the game is like the doodles at the back pages of a heavy metal fan’s school jotter. It’s bombastic and silly, and it’s also extremely fun to play and constantly rewarding. Where Doom: Eternal felt like a bold, if in my opinion flawed, side step into a quicker, more movement-based shooter,Doom: The Dark Agesis a relic....

EA has officially confirmed the new features coming to FIFA 23 when the game is released on June 16, 2025. For the first time in the series,FIFA 23will feature women’s club teams, with two leagues available at launch – the Barclays Women’s Super League in England, and Division 1 Arkema in France. Both World Cup competitions will also feature in the game, with the men’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 coming as free post-launch updates....

Electronic Arts has announced it’s restructuring its studios into two organisations – EA Entertainment and EA Sports. The former, which houses the publisher’s owned IP and licensed games, will be headed up byLaura Miele, who has been appointed president ofEAEntertainment, Technology & Central Development. Respawnco-founderVince Zampellawill lead the EA studios responsible forApex Legends, its Star Wars and Battlefield games. Samantha Ryan will run the division’s lifestyle franchises and blockbuster single-player games, while Jeff Karp will remain in charge of the mobile games business....

The developer of soulslike Enotria: The Last Song says it’s delayed the Xbox version of the game due to a “lack of communication” from the platform holder. Jyamma Games posted a statement on its website on Monday saying that while the game was set for release onPS5andPCon September 19, theXboxversion has been put on “indefinite” hold. “Enotria has been a passion project of ours for years, and we cannot wait to see you bring the fight to the Authors to put a finite end to the twisted eternal play, Canovaccio,” the statement reads....

Epic Games has acquired Brazil-based Horizon Chase and Wonderbox studio Aquiris for an undisclosed sum. The studio, which Epic first invested in in early 2022, will be the foundation of the company’s first Latin America studio,Epic GamesBrasil. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in the city of Porto Alegre, Aquiris is joining Epic to work on its blockbusterFortniteseries. “Joining Epic Games builds on our successes in creating memorable games including Wonderbox, Horizon Chase 2 and Looney Tunes World of Mayhem, which we will continue to operate,” said Aquiris CEO Mauricio Longoni, who is now studio director of Epic Games Brasil....

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated Starfield, shedding more light on some of the game’s content. TheBethesdaXboxexclusivehas been given an M ratingfor “blood, strong language, suggestive themes, use of drugs and violence”. Its award of a rating also suggests the game remains on track for its September 6 release date. According to the ESRB, the game will see “players use futuristic guns, lasers, axes, and explosives to kill enemies”....

Stormgate, a new RTS developed by ex-Starcraft developers has been announced. Frost Giant Studios, which consists of ex-Blizzardemployees, revealed the game along with a new trailer. Frost Giant is made up of RTS veterans such as Tim Campbell (campaign designer of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne), James Anhalt (lead engineer on StarCraft II), Jesse Brophy (lead artist on Starcraft II) and Ryan Schutter (lead designer on Starcraft II). “Stormgate is a free-to-play real-time strategy game set amidst a war between humanity and an onslaught of alien invaders,” the game’s description reads....

Nintendo will reveal some kind of new Switch controller this week, a US government listing has suggested. Earlier this month,Nintendo’s request for a confidentiality agreementwas submitted and listed on the FCC website, for an item simply described as “game controller”. The initial documents listed on the website had suggested that all photos of the unrevealed controller, its manual, its block diagram and its schematics would be kept secret for up to six months....

The latest update for Forza Motorsport is available now, including the game’s first free DLC track. Update 2.0 adds the Yas Marina Circuit to the game, complete with four different layouts – Full Circuit, North Circuit, South Circuit and North Corkscrew. The track is the current site of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and previously featured inForza Motorsport5, 6 and 7. Also added to the game are four new Car Pass cars – the 1965 Lotus #1 Team Lotus Type 40, the 2019 McLaren #03 720S GT3, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the 2019 Peugeot #7 DS Sport Compétition 308....

Grasshopper Manufacture has teased its next project by briefly showing it during a video presentation. The studio’s first Grasshopper Direct was an 11-minute video containing comedic skits, strange fake movie trailers and a montage showing the studio’s past titles. However, it ended with the show’s hosts hearing a noise in the room behind them, going to investigate and finding Grasshopper founder and CEOSuda51sitting on a couch playing an unknown game....
