Devolver Digital has delayed Baby Steps, Stick It To The Stickman and Skate Story. Most recently scheduled to be released this year, the games will now launch in 2025. The delays were confirmed in a mock awards show, ‘The 15th Annual Devolver Delayed Awards 2024’, which is viewable below. PC gamesStick It To The Stickman and Skate Story were also included in last August’s ‘Devolver Delayed Showcase’, which saw them delayed from 2023 to 2024....

The creator of Diablo says he feels that modern action RPGs level up the player too quickly. In an interview withVideogamer, David Brevik – who was senior designer and lead programmer on Diablo, and project and design lead on Diablo 2 – criticised modern takes on the genre for rewarding players too quickly. One of the main criticisms levelled at Diablo 3 (which Brevik didn’t work on) is that players can reach level 70 within a matter of 3-4 hours depending on how they play the game, much faster than in previous games in the series....

Electronic Arts has officially completed its acquisition of Codemasters, following delivery of a Court Order to the Registrar of Companies of England and Wales on Thursday. The entire issued share capital ofCodemastersis now owned by Codex Games Limited, a subsidiary of EA. Trading in Codemasters shares was suspended on AIM, a sub-market of the London Stock Exchange, this morning, and existing shareholder will receive settlement (604 pence per Scheme Share held) within 14 days....

The European Commission will reportedly approve Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard next week. That’s according toReuterssources, who claim May 15 is the likeliest date that EU antitrust regulators will announce the decision. The European Commission has confirmed plans topublish its verdict by May 22, and it has previously been claimed thatMicrosoft’s willingness to offer game licensing deals to rivalsis likely to address its antitrust concerns. Last month, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said it waspreventing the dealdue to concerns about its impact on the future of the cloud gaming market....

Astral Chain director and Nier Automata designer Takahisa Taura looks likely to have quit PlatinumGames. Last month, fans speculated that the key creator could have made a career switch, after heremoved reference to PlatinumGamesfrom his X handle. Now, fans have noticed that Taura haschanged his place of workon hisFacebookpage, swappingPlatinumfor the mysterious ‘Eel Game Studio’. According toJapanese company listings, this appears to be a new formation, suggesting Taura is either establishing a studio, or going freelance....

Independent UK developer Flaming Fowl Studio has announced its next project, a comedy sci-fi game. The developer, which was founded by former Lionhead staff who’d previously worked on the Fable series, has shed the first information on Konfronto, which it describes as “a sci-fi auto battler, pack-filled with more parodies and puns than an episode of Red Dwarf”. Players will manage the running of an intergalactic carrier, and can upgrade it with an array of spaceships and “weird and wonderful technology designed to obliterate anyone foolish enough to oppose you in asynchronous multiplayer”....

Fable developer Playground Games appears to have opened a third studio. As spotted byWccftech, the UK developer’sLinkedIn pagemakes reference to three studios, all of which are based in Leamington Spa. “Today, Playground has three world-class studios in Leamington Spa,” the developer’s About tab on LinkedIn reads. “In our original HQ, we continue to support and grow the huge, vibrant Horizon community. In our new studios on the other side of town, we are excited to be developing Fable, a new beginning for the legendary franchise....

Mediatonic provided the first look at Fall Guys Season 2 during Gamescom Opening Night Live on Thursday. Fall Guys lead game designer Joe Walsh revealed that Season 2 of the last man standing game will feature Medieval-themed stages and skins. “Fall Guys Season 2 will bring the dragon fire with feudal fortresses, knockout knights and pugilistic paladins among new additions coming this October,” reads the blurb accompanying the reveal trailer above....

Civilization studio Firaxis and Witcher maker CD Projekt Red have both confirmed a round of layoffs. 2Kstudio Firaxis reportedly laid off about 30 developers on Tuesday, while a similar number of employees will be cut byCD Projekt Redas it winds down support for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. A 2K spokesperson toldAxiosthe Firaxis layoffs were due to a “sharpening of focus, enhancements of efficiencies, and an alignment of our talent against our highest priorities”....

GameStop is selling PlayStation 5 console bundles online today, with early access to the products reserved for Pro members. The retailer is making a limited number ofPS5bundles available to purchase on Tuesday, while stocks last. At the time of publication, there are four PS5 bundles listedbut only one is currently available to purchase, with the others expected to go live shortly. GameStopwill be selling PlayStation 5 console bundles online on Wednesday.
