Microsoft has released a new system update that boosts the user interface resolution on Xbox Series X consoles. Prior to the update, which is now available to members of theXboxInsider programme who are part of the Alpha ring,Xbox Series Xconsoles had beenrendering the dashboard and other UI elements at 1080p. Microsoftdidn’t go as far as to specifically call this a 4K UI update in its patch notes, meaning the higher native resolution might fall short of 4K....

Nintendo has released a Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes demo on the Nintendo Switch eshop. While the full game will be released on June 24, the limited-time demo for the title is available now for all players. It supports local co-op for two players and any progress made in the demo will carry forward into the full game when it’s available. Capcom has announced a Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test. It’s comingPS5,Xbox Series X/SandSteamthis month, with early access forPlayStationPlus members starting on October 28. The second stage of the beta, which kicks off on October 31, won’t require a PlayStation Plus membership, or a Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription. The beta will support cross-play on all platforms and have three parts to it: the complete character creation tool, a story trial, and the free-roaming Doshaguma Hunt....

EA has patented the ability to generate in-game voice acting using a player’s own voice. As spotted byVeryAli Gaming, the patent – which is named ‘Generating speech in the voice of a player of a video game’ – was filed in 2020 but was published last month. The patent describes a process in which players “input data that represents speech content”, which is then passed through a synthesiser module, a voice convertor and a vocoder to generate new dialogue based on the sample....

A prototype version of Gears of War 3 designed for the PlayStation 3 has been leaked to the public. Twitter user PixelButts posted a tweet earlier today, announcing that they had uploaded the build to the Internet Archive website, for anyone to download. The news comes with a fairly large caveat, however – as it stands, the game can only be run on debug PS3 consoles, because they have more RAM than retail units....

The company behind the much-delayed Amico console has released some of its games on Switch and Steam, while insisting the plan is still to release the console eventually. Originally announced in May 2018 by Intellivision, the Amico system – which focuses on cheap, family-friendly games – was originally due to launch in October 2020, but subsequently saw multiple delays. The company evenstarted selling eight of its boxed launch gamesin October 2021, despite the console not yet having a release date....
