EA has officially announced Star Wars Zero Company, a turn-based tactics game from Respawn. The game will get its full unveiling during Star Wars Celebration this weekend. A demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is seemingly due to be released today. Following an announcement by Sony last week, anew State of Play presentation dedicated specifically to Final Fantasy 7is set to air today. An early build of Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West has leaked into the public domain, VGC understands. On Monday images of what was claimed to be thePS4version of thePlayStationexclusive sequel began circulating on social media. VGC has since been told that the leaked build is indeed legitimate and, other than some missing art assets, contains the entire core content planned for the final game. Following the publication of images claiming to show the leakedHorizon Forbidden Westbuild on Twitter, the media was eventuallyremoved hours laterdue to “a report from the copyright holder”, which adds further credence to their legitimacy....

A new Mafia game is currently in development, it’s been claimed. Kotakureports that developerHangar 13‘s UK studio in Brighton is leading development on a prequel set before the events of the Mafia trilogy. According to the report, the game’s codename is Nero and will be developed in Unreal Engine 5, as opposed to the Mafia 3 engine used for the Mafia Trilogy remasters in 2020. Kotaku’s report comes right after as Hangar 13’s internal announcement that its studio headHaden Blackman is leaving the developerand its parent company2K....

Nintendo has been hit with a new Switch Joy-Con drift lawsuit which accuses the company of planned obsolescence – a policy of producing goods designed to break so that they need to be replaced. The lawsuit was filed in Paris by French non-profit consumer organisation UFC-Que Choisir, which said in apress release(viaGamesIndistry.biz) that it was taking action in a bid to getNintendoto change the way Joy-Cons are manufactured. Activision Blizzard has dropped its legal complaint against a popular content creator that had threatened to sue the publisher after it used an audio clip without permission. Earlier this year,Activisionbegan legal action against content creator Anthony Fantano – who goes by the name ‘TheNeedleTok’ on TikTok – after he contacted Activision, threatening to sue them for using the audio from one of his videos. In the video, which is a TikTok ‘duet’ involving another previously uploaded clip by a different user, Fantano watches someone cutting a pizza into progressively smaller slices, which results in him shouting, “it’s enough slices”....

Activision Blizzard is reportedly planning to cut another 30 jobs as it transitions its non-development workforce to a full outsourcing setup. Activision has prevailed in a lawsuit against the maker of popular Call of Duty cheats. As spotted byVentureBeat, a federal court has awarded a $14.465 million judgment to the publisher in its lawsuit against EngineOwning, Garnatz Enterprise Ltd, and 11 individuals. The defendants were also ordered to pay $292,912 in attorneys’ fees, while the court issued a permanent injunction against the cheaters’ site. Filed in January 2022, the lawsuit alleged that Germany-based EngineOwning is “engaged in the development, sale, distribution, marketing, and exploitation of a portfolio of malicious cheats and hacks for popular online multiplayer games, most prominently the [Call of Duty] games”....
