Sony will stream a new State of Play presentation today focused on third-party games coming to PS4 and PS VR. The 40-minute stream, which airs at 1pm PT/4pm ET/9pm BST/10pm CEST, will also include “a fewPS5game updates on third-party and indie titles” originally revealed in June’sPS5 software showcase, according toPlayStationcommunications director Sid Shuman. Grasshopper Manufacture founder Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) has said the studio has no plans to dilute the content of its future games to avoid controversy. In a recent interview, VGC asked Suda if instances where social media users have called out controversial products has made him think twice about the extreme content and choice language often used in his studio’s games. Suda replied that while Grasshopper’s games do indeed have mature content, the studio doesn’t consciously set out to make a game controversial....

Telltale Games has delayed the release of The Wolf Among Us 2. The creator of the original Football Manager is re-releasing it on Steam, making a cheeky jibe at the current series in the process. Kevin Toms, who created and programmed the original Football Manager back in 1982, revamped the game in 2016 and released it on mobile devices as Football Star Manager. Now the game is getting aSteamport, which will be released on August 14, to coincide with the start of the Premier League season....

Bungie has released a new Destiny 2: Beyond Light trailer focused on Europa. Players will be able to explore the new location when the Beyond Light expansion launches on November 10. They’ll battle a dark empire and seek out lost Golden Age technology beneath the moon’s frozen surface. Various members of the Mass Effect cast are reuniting this weekend for a panel on N7 Day. They include Commander Shepard voice actors Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale, who announced the news on their social media channels. Hale said the “very special panel” will take place on November 7 at 11am PT/2pm ET/7pm UK. Fans can submit questions they’d like to ask the panelhere. Today marks 25 years since the original Japanese release of the Nintendo 64 and its seminal launch title Super Mario 64. The Video Game History Foundation (VGHF) is making its digital library system available to the public for the first time next week. The first public version of the library will launch on January 30, offering digital access to some of the Foundation’s “exciting special collections”. “After years of collecting, cataloging, and digitizing video game history materials, the VGHF is finally opening the virtual doors to its library – wherever you are,” the Foundation said in a statement....

The PC release dates for a number of upcoming games including Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection may have been revealed via an update to Steam’s API. As noted bySteamDB founderPavel Djundik,Valvehas added release timestamps in the API, which are visible even for unreleased games. Steam now requires developers to set a planned release date in its backend for games to have a store page, even if the information doesn’t match that listed on the public-facing product page, which could simply say ‘coming soon’, for example....
