Sony and NCSoft have reportedly struck a deal to create a Horizon MMORPG. According to news siteMTN, the project will be developed by the South Korean company behind the Lineage and Guild Wars MMO series and target the global market as part ofSony’s push into live service games. Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls remake producer Teruyuki Toriyama has announced he’s to leave SIE Japan Studio at the end of 2020. Sports Direct’s takeover of Game Digital has edged closer as the company revealed on Monday it now owns 84% of the high street retailer. In a trading update, Sports Direct said that as of July 12, it owned or had agreed to acquire approximately 83.88% of Game Digital’s total shares, with any outstanding transactions expected to be completed by July 16. As a result, Game Digital has applied to be delisted from the London Stock Exchange, which is expected to take effect on August 12, and it has urged remaining shareholders to sell up before then....

Starbreeze has claimed Payday 3 is “finally up and running as things should be” following the release of the game’s first patch. Subnautica studio Unknown Worlds has lost its leadership in a significant shake-up at the developer. On Wednesday, ownerKraftonannounced that CEO Ted Gill, co-founder and creative director Charlie Cleveland, and co-founder and technical director Max McGuire have all left the studio effective immediately. According to Krafton, Unknown Worlds’ leadership left despite its efforts to keep them involved in the game’s development. “The company wishes them well on their next endeavors,” it said....

Nintendo’s long-rumoured ‘Switch Pro’ hardware will reportedly enter production in June. Bloombergclaims that the updated version of the Switch will contain a new 7-inch Samsung OLED screen, as opposed to the 6.2-inch and 5.5-inch LCD screens of the current standard model and the Switch Lite respectively. THQ Nordic has delayed its Alone in the Dark reboot until next year. The entire itch.io website has been taken offline, and it’s blaming toy manufacturer Funko. According to a thread posted on its official X account, itch.io says the whole site has been taken down by what it calls a “bogus phishing report”. It alleges that Funko was using ‘brand protection software’ which it claims used AI to flag a disputed page, and filed a “bogus” report with itch.io’s domain registrar....
