Electronic Arts has announced its next Sims game, which is codenamed ‘Project Rene’. Lyndsay Pearson, VP of franchise creative for The Sims, introduced the game towards the end of a Sims product showcase on Tuesday, which is viewable in full below. The reveal included a brief look at some of the creation tools players will be able to use when they get their hands on the game, which is in early development at Maxis....

EA has made five of its accessibility patents free for any studio to use

Electronic Arts is sharing five of its previously protected patents that improve accessibility for players. In a statement on theofficial EA site, the publisher announced a ‘patent pledge’ that lets any other game developer use five of its patents (with potentially more to follow) without having to pay any money or risk being sued. “Through our patent pledge, we’re committing that every developer in the industry will be able to use our accessibility-centred technology patents royalty free,” the statement reads....

EA Sports UFC 5 announced, full reveal coming in September

EA has announced EA UFC 5. The follow-up to 2020’s MMA game will be revealed in full in September. It wasreportedin 2021 that the game was originally planned for late 2022. It was also reported at the time that EA was working on a revival of the Fight Night boxing video game franchise, however, work on UFC 5 caused that to stop. In a studio-wide email, EA Canada told staff that its focus would be onEA SportsUFC 5 for the foreseeable future....

Earth Defense Force 6’s western release has been delayed from spring to summer 2024. The latest entry in the action-shooter series, which was released in Japan in 2022, will be available forPS4,PS5andPCviaSteamin the west. “Developer Sandlot and publisher D3 Publisher have decided to extend the launch window to add finishing touches and finalize preparations for its Western launch”, the companies said on Monday.

Veterans of long-running print gaming magazine Edge have launched ON, a new gaming periodical. ON: Volume One is available now, with eight different covers to choose from. Each volume is priced at £24.99. The first volume is available exclusively in the UK. A second volume is currently in production. “The ultimate celebration of gaming’s past, present, and future – ON: Volume One is a premium games journal with outstanding writers, fantastic design, and luxurious print quality,” reads a synopsis for ON on its website....

F1 23 trailer confirms June release date and return of story mode Braking Point

Electronic Arts has announced a June 17, 2025 release date for F1 23. The latest entry in theCodemasters-developed racing series will be available forPS5,Xbox Series X/S, andPCviaEAApp,Epic Games StoreandSteam. The digital-only F1 23 Champions Edition will include a range of bonuses including three-day early access starting on June 13. The game was unveiled on Wednesday with a reveal trailer which is viewable below.
