UK heavy metal group Tesseract has announced War of Being, a single-player sci-fi adventure tie-in to their latest album.
The game, which is now onSteam, is a VR experience. By playing the game, players can solve a mystery that will give players access to the band’s next single early. The game can also be played in desktop mode.
Formed in 2003, Tesseract are widely regarded as genre pioneers. They are made up of Daniel Tompkins (vocals), Acle Kahney (guitar), James Monteith (guitar), Amos Williams (bass), and Jay Postones (drums).
Their next album, which this experience serves as a prelude to, will be released next month.
“Gaming has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember,”said Daniel Tompkins, lead singer of Tesseract and lead director & designer on ‘War Of Being’.
“From theSegaMaster System / Mega Drive and SNES days through to modern-day console andPC gaming, I’ve always found escapism and inspiration by diving into hundreds of titles. I’m a lover of FPS, RPG and Sci-Fi Horror titles such as DOOM toSilent HillandResident Evil.
“Gaming has inspired so many of my musical projects and albums. It’s a dream come true to be able to produce a computer game based upon my own music and it’s such an exciting opportunity to help spearhead a new crossover medium for music and gaming consumption – I can’t wait to see where it leads us.”
