Ubisoft says it’s investigating reports that the wrong region version of Far Cry 6 for PS4 is being sold in some European territories, and blocking upgrades to PS5.

In a statement issued to VGC, the company said: “The team is aware of reports that some players are unable to upgrade theirPlayStation 4version ofFar Cry 6to thePlayStation 5version.  We are investigating the issue and will provide an update ASAP.”

Since its release last week, users in multiple European territories including the UK, Germany and Greecehave claimed that they’ve received the Russian version of Far Cry 6on social media andUbisoft’s official support forum.

Crucially, this means that those who are unlucky enough to receive the wrong region version of the PS4 game cannot upgrade it to PlayStation 5.

As demonstrated by Twitter userSJPearson85, PS5 users can solve the issue by creating a RussianPlayStationaccount.

However, they will not be able to access their DLC via this method, such as the extra content included with premium editions of the game.

It’s not the first time this issue has been reported forUbisoft’s games: last year some users claimed they had receivedRussian region versions of Assassin’s Creed Valhallaon PS4 in the UK, which was also blocking them from upgrading to PS5.

This issue was again reportedly solved by changing to a Russian PlayStation account.
