Ubisoft is working on a fix for problems preventing some players from upgrading its games from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.
The publisher announced in July that it planned to offer current-gen owners of games includingAssassin’s Creed ValhallaandWatch Dogs Legionfree upgrades to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

However, a significant number ofPlayStationowners have encountered issues upgrading physical copies of the games followingPS5’s launch last month, as documented onUbisoft’s officialforumsandReddit.
Affected users report there being no option to upgrade to the PS5 version when they insert theirPS4copy into the newer console, as per Ubisoft’s instructions.

In astatementreleased on Monday, Ubisoft Support said it was aware of the issue impacting some UK-based users, although the problem is also reportedly occurring in other countries too.

Multiple players have reported a workaround for the issue which involves creating a new PS5 user account and selecting Turkey as their location. However, subsequently deleting the Turkish account is said to lock the PS5 version of the game.
