Ubisoft has said that it’s exploring bringing back the Rayman series.

The company toldKotakuthat a Rayman project is in its “early stages” at its Montpellier and Milan studios.

It also confirmed that Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil creator Michel Ancel,who left the company in 2020, is consulting on it.

“We are pleased to confirmUbisoft MontpellierandUbisoft Milanhave recently started an exploration phase on the Rayman brand,” said a spokesperson forUbisoft. “The project is still in its early stages, and we will share more details later.”

“As creator of the Rayman brand, Michel Ancel is being consulted to ensure consistency within the universe,” they added.

Ubisoft commented on the project afterInsider Gamingreported that a Rayman remake is in development at Mario + Rabbids studio Ubisoft Milan, with assistance from Montpellier developers.

It claimed that the Montpellier team which developedPrince of Persia: The Lost Crownhad been broken up afterUbisoft decided not to make a sequel.

The majority of those developers are said to have joined Montpellier’sBeyond Good and Evil 2team, with about a dozen moving to ‘Project Ovr’, the next mainline Ghost Recon game, and a similar number joining ‘ProjectSteambot’, the Rayman title.

The fifth and most recent entry in Ubisoft’s platforming series was 2013’s Rayman Legends, which was developed by its Montpellier studio.
