Activision has premiered Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer mode and confirmed an open beta starting on October 8.
PS4 Pre-order customers will gain the first access to the beta, followed by generalPlayStation 4players on October 10, then other pre-order customers on October 15 and general access on the 17th.
The most significant change to Cold War’s multiplayer is the absence of Specialists featured in the past two Black Ops games. Wildcards and Scorestreaks will feature in the game, as well as Field Upgrades such as a Field Mic and Jammer.

Players should expect to see familiar core modes such as Team Deathmatch, Search & Destroy, Domination, and Kill Confirmed, in addition to new modes such as the 6v6 player VIP Escort, 12v12 player Combined Arms, and 40-player Fireteam.

Activisionpreviously confirmed the new premium game will share content with free-to-playerWarzone, just asModern Warfaredoes currently.
Black Ops Cold War includes shared progression with Warzone, adding inventory items that can be used in both games. Plus, Warzone players will still have access to Modern Warfare content they earned previously, like Operators and weapon blueprints.
More details will be revealed on Black Ops’ Warzone integration at a later date, Activision said. As previously reported by VGC,a Black Ops-themed Warzone map revampis in the works.
Cold War is described as“the direct sequel to the original” Black Opsand is set for release onPC, current and next-gen consoles on November 13.
Pre-orders forCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warare live now, with players rewarded with early access to an open beta and the Sgt. Woods Operator bundle for immediate use in Modern Warfare and Warzone.
