Activision will shut down the original Call of Duty Warzone this Thursday, September 21.
The free-to-play battle royale game launched in March 2020 and was a smash hit, attracting over 100 million players in 13 months, according to its publisher.

It went offline for a couple of weeks in November 2022 so thatActivisioncould focus on the launch of its successor, which was at the time calledWarzone 2.0but has since dropped the numbers from its title.
The originalWarzonewas thenrelaunched in the form of the stripped back Warzone Caldera, named after its World War 2-themed island map, which had replaced its launch map, Verdansk.

Caldera players were able to access all the skins and weapons they’d purchased or unlocked across three premium Call of Duty titles, which aren’t compatible with the new Warzone.
Activision announced in June that itplanned to end support for the game this monthin order to focus on other Call of Duty content.

Following Caldera’s closure, players will be able to access their purchased content inModern Warfare,Black Ops Cold WarandVanguardmultiplayer modes.
