Roguelike platformer Spelunky 2 will release next month, on September 15.
Developer Derek Yu revealed the news during aPlayStationState of Playbroadcast, in which he said he hopes the game appeals to both old and new players with the addition of online multiplayer.
Developed by Mossmouth and BlitWorks, the game wasannouncedin October 2017 as “coming first” toPS4andSteam. “In Spelunky 2, the story deepens as more randomly-generated adventures beckon,” teased the reveal trailer.
The gameplay trailer posted in August 2018 introduced treasure hunter Ana Spelunky and confirmed plans to launch the title in 2019. Last yearSpelunky 2 was delayed againfor extra development time.
