Sony has revealed plans to develop a TV series based on the Twisted Metal franchise.
Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra confirmed the news during the group’s investor relations day yesterday.

“We have a TV show we just agreed to get underway that will be developed from the IP onPlayStation, it’s called Twisted Metal,” he said, according toIGN. “It’s a game that was put out many years ago and we’re going to develop a TV series around that.”
The vehicular combat series debuted on the original PlayStation in 1995, while the most recent franchise entry released onPS3in 2012.

Vinciquerra also said theUnchartedfilm starring Tom Holland is in “advanced development”. It was announced in January that the movie would be helmed by 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg.
Sony Interactive Entertainmentrecentlyestablished a new production studioto adapt its original game properties for film and television.

While PlayStation Productions is based out of the Sony Pictures lot in California and is set to receive distribution help from its sister company, the business will handle production of all adaptations in-house.
Sony also used its investor relations day toshowcase the ‘game changing’ SSD technologybehind thePlayStation 5.
