PlayStation parent company Sony has donated $2 million towards humanitarian aid for those affected by the Israel-Gaza conflict.

Sonysaid it had donated the money to the Japanese Red Cross Society and the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Additionally, it said various Sony Group companies are running programmes matching donations made by employees to non-profit organisations.

“We’ve donated to United Nations Relief and Works Agency who are providing humanitarian aid to Palestinian families, we ask you to consider donating if you’re able,” the publishersaid.

On Thursday, US president Joe Biden said a deal had been struck with Egypt to allow the delivery of limited aid into the neighbouring Palestinian territory of Gaza.

Gaza has since been devastated by a series of Israeli airstrikes that havereportedlykilled over 3,000 people, and Israel is currently preparing to launch a ground assault.

With a similar $2 million donation, Sony was one of manycompanies in the games industry that donatedtowards humanitarian aid efforts in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion of the country last year.
