When Sonic Origins released in June 2022 it wasaccompanied by three DLC packscosting around $5, which included such features as new hard missions, extra music tracks and character animations on the main menu.
Players complained at the time that some of these features, particularly the main menu animations, should have been present in the base game.

Sonic Origins has faced multiple issues since its release. A prominent modder who was working on a large mod for the game evencalled it “absolute shit”and abandoned the project, saying that the modding process had made it clear to them that the game was in a poor state.
