Developer Saber Interactive will explore the potential for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 story DLC, and a full sequel, after the game’s early success.
Space Marine 2attractedtwo million players within a day of its September 9 release forPS5,Xbox Series X/SandPC, according to publisher Focus Interactive.

Speaking toIGN,Saber Interactivechief creative officerTim Willitssaid it was the fastest-selling gamethe former id Software studio headhas ever worked on, including multiple Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein and Rage titles.
He also revealed that Space Marine 2 had a budget less than half the size ofDoom Eternal’s, which was his last game atid Software.

“Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko, he has proposed some story ideas that could either be DLC or a sequel,” Willits said. “We’re literally just catching our breath. This is two weeks out. We just need to get the dust to settle.
“But I can confidently say that we will not disappoint our Warhammer fans in the future. It’s too big of a success! I know that’s an obvious thing to say, but hopefully we’ll be working on Space Marine content for a long time.”

On the subject of a potential sequel, he added: “We just have to figure it out. I would love to do it, yes. Yes, yes, yes! There’s so many different factions… there are other chapters, too, that are interesting…”
Space Marine 2 was revealed duringThe Game Awardsin 2021 and originallyscheduled for release in 2023 prior to a delay.

Its makers suffered a setback when a developer build of the game, which was reportedly playable from start to finish,leaked in July.
