Rockstar was planning remasters of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption but decided to scrap them, it’s been claimed.
Rockstarinsider Tez2, who’s accurately leaked information about the company’s games in the past including GTA Online content, claimed on Twitter that both games were in the works but are no longer going concerns.
“As per a reliable source with clear accuracy on Rockstar plans, remasters of GTA IV and RDR1 were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind,” they said.
“The poor reception of the Trilogy DE might be a reason behind that decision.”
Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition in November 2021, promising modern remasters of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
However, the highly anticipated collection released witha significant number of technical issues, as well as “unintended” documents within its game files such asunlicensed music and developer notes.
Rockstar subsequently apologisedto fans for the state of the game and promised a series of updates to improve the title.

Despite the launch issues, sales figures shared in February suggested the title hadsold as many as 10 million copiesfollowing its release last November.
Take-Twohasn’t confirmed exact sales figures for GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, but CEOStrauss Zelnickclaimed in January that the collectionhad performed “great” since its release.

And during the company’s third quarter earnings call in February, Zelnick said the title had “significantly exceeded” the publisher’s commercial expectations.
Rockstar confirmed in February that“active development” on Grand Theft Auto 6was “well underway”.
