Rockstar Games has announced the acquisition of long-time development partner Video Games Deluxe.
The Sydney-based studio, which will be renamed Rockstar Australia, was founded by Brendan McNamara, who previously directed The Getaway forSonybefore establishing LA Noire studio Team Bondi.

Video Games Deluxe has worked with Rockstar on several games including the 2017 rereleases of LA Noire, LA Noire: The VR Case Files, and most recently,Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
“After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia,” saidRockstar Gameshead of publishing Jennifer Kolbe.

“It’s been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade,” said McNamara. “We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.”
Rockstar is currently gearing up to launchGrand Theft Auto 6forPS5andXbox Series X/S. Last month, its parent companyTake-Twosaid thatGTA 6 is still on track to release in the fall of 2025.

It was recently claimed that Rockstar has met with topRobloxandFortnitecreators about the potential tobuild custom game experiences inside GTA 6.
