Psyonix has announced a new Rocket League game for mobile devices.

Rocket LeagueSideswipe is a standalone, free-to-play title scheduled to launch worldwide forAndroidandiOSin 2021.

In an announcement post,PsyonixsaidSideswipe retains the core, competitive gameplay of Rocket League but it is played from a new side-on perspective.

Players compete in 1v1 or 2v2 matches each lasting for two minutes.

“Rocket League Sideswipe will feature mobile controls that are easy to pick up whether you’re a master of Rocket League or a new player still learning your way around the field,” Psyonix said.

“Plus, there are advanced mechanics, just like Rocket League, for those who want to climb the Competitive Ranks. In the garage, Rocket League Sideswipe will have robust car customization similar to Rocket League.”

The game will also include an online ranking system for competitive play.

A limited-time Rocket League Sideswipe alpha test launches today in Australia and New Zealand on Android via theGooglePlay Store.

Details on future betas in additional regions will be revealed in the coming months.
