Resident Evil 4’s Merchant Requests and the game’s side quests.
These quests, which can be started by picking up the blue pages that are scattered around the game, or simply by completing the requirements, are key to unlocking some of the most powerful weapons in the game.
CompletingMerchant Requestsrewards the player with Spinels, special gems that can be used at the merchant shop to trade for special items, weapons, and even collectible maps.

Area: Farm
Reward: Spinel x 3
Text: For the love of god, will somebody please get rid of the blue medallions those religious lunatics left hanging around?
Area: Abandoned Factory
Text: Get rid of the rats that have taken up in the factory, We don’t know if they are carrying any diseases, but we’d rather not find out!
Solution: There are three rats in the small area of the Abandoned Factory that you’ve just left. They’re running around the floor and squeaking loudly.
Area: None specified
Reward: Spinel x 4
Text: A dear friend of mine is gravely ill and I’d very much like to treat them to some delicious vipers before they pass.
Solution: Vipers appear in several areas around the village and near the lake. One of the easiest place to find the vipers is near the location of the gasoline that’s required for the speed boat.
Area: Church
Reward: Spinel x 2
Text: Those traitorous twins should not be allowed to rest in peace for joining that evil cult.
Won’t someone-anyone-destroy the emblems engraved upon their tombstones!
Solution: Once you reach the church, look around the graveyard for the two graves pictures above, and shoot the icons.
Area: Quarry / Farm of Fish
Text: Is there anyone who can destroy those blue medallions??? The area is polluted by their presence and I can’t bear it!
Text: Someone fetch me a rare gold chicken egg! What will I do with it? Well, sometimes it’s more fun not knowing, right?
Solution:Resident Evil 4 gold egg
Area: Lake
Text: Could someone catch the gigantic fish that lives in the lake for me? Fish oil has many uses, after all.
Solution:Resident Evil 4 gigantic fish
Area: Village Chief’s Manor
Reward: Spinel x 8
Text: I need someone to get rid of the wild dog that’s been roaming around the village.
Solution: Head back to the Chief’s Manor. Once there, you’ll find a larger wolf behind the gate. Follow it back into the village and defeat it in a fight.
Area: Castle Gate
Reward: Spinel x 5
Text: Those blue medallions have been strung up around the castle by those crazy zealots. They’re a damn eyesore! Someone get them out of my sight.
Area: Grand Hall
Text: Those annoying blue medallions are a blemish and I want them gone. Let us show them that we are not afraid and that we will not stand for this!
Area: Grand Hall / Library / Treasury / Portrait Gallery
Text: Rats have infested a section of the castle and are gnawing away at all the precious books, but those heretics couldn’t care less!.
Solution: You’ll visit these areas are you’re looking for the various statue heads to complete the puzzle that opens the door int he main foyer of the Great Hall. Keep an eye out for them and listen for the squeak.
Area: Mausoleum
Text: I seek a brave soul willing to dispose of that monstrosity of a knight. But be warned: it is much stronger than the others. He cut down our best with a single strike.
Solution: Head back down to the lower area where you controlled Ashley, and face off with the Golden Knight.
Area: Hive
Text: Too many have lost their lives to the never-ending swarm of insects. It’s a plague! Please destroy the entrances in their gigantic hive and save us from further tragedy.
Solution: Once you’ve finished the mine cart section, you’ll arrive in the hive. Look up and you’ll see four pulsing, yellow bulbs, shoot them to complete this request.
Area: Courtyard
Text: Someone help me recover a stolen jewel snatched by a thieving crow” I bet it can be found in the vile thing’s nest…
Solution: Head to the merchant shop near the Courtyard. Just outside it, there’s a large bird’s nest on top of the building that houses the merchant. Shoot the bird’s nest down, collect the jewel, and sell it to the merchant.
Area: Throne Room
Text: The detestable Ramon Salazar. Even the very sight of his images makes my skin crawl. Do me a service and find some way to deface the portrait of him in the room shown in the photograph, will you?
Area: Cargo Depot
Text: If anyone has a moment to spare, would you please turn those blue medallions into a broken mess on the floor?
Area: Waste Disposal
Reward: Spinel x3
Text: I’ve had enough! Disgusting rats are running all over my area, making the place filthy. Will someone help me keep things clean and take care of those tiny terrors once and for all?
Solution: While in Waste Disposal with Ashley, you’ll notice three large rats running around while you’re completing the puzzle that requires the two of you to split up while Ashley mans the bridge controls. Shoot them all to complete the request.
Area: Incubation Lab
Text: There have been sightings of what appears to be a strange corpse wandering around, likely the result of some immoral experiment.
Won’t someone put it out of its terrible misery?
Solution: Head back to the incubation lab which features the wrench puzzle. You’ll find a much more powerful enemy that requires 7 weak points to be destroyed to complete the quest.
Area: Cliffside Ruins
Text: I want every single blue medallion in these ruins smashed to pieces!
