Rare has released a narrated version of its latest Everwild trailer and detailed some of the game’s setup.
According to art director Ryan Stevenson, the player characters seen in the first twoEverwildtrailers are called Eternals, and they’re able to connect and interact with the various animals featured in the videos.
Players can use the animals to interact with the environment, but they’ll also need to befriend them by sharing food or healing them.
“That’s the important part, the connection. All the way through the trailer you start seeing these little moments of connection between the Eternals and also the animals that they interact with,” he said.

Rare’s latest Everwild trailerdebuted inXbox‘s Games Showcase in July and listed the title as anXbox Series Xexclusive.
Set in a “natural and magical world”,Everwild is being helmed by executive producer Louise O’Connor, aRareveteran who has worked on animation for Conker’s Bad Fur Day andBanjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, and studio creative director Simon Woodroffe, whose last game was Sumo’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
VGC understands thatEverwild is an ambitious third-person adventure title with god game elements. The game’s design is being led by lead designer James Blackham, who previously worked at Lionhead.
