Rainbow Six Quarantine may have been renamed Rainbow Six Parasite.
Discussing the game’s launch window earlier this month, publisherUbisoftsaid it wasconsidering the possibility of renaming the titlein light of the coronavirus pandemic – and it looks as if it could already have done so.
Orbis Patches, a site which tracksPS4game updates, recently reported that a file for Rainbow Six Quarantine was uploaded on thePlayStationNetwork.
Following some digging,MP1STclaims it found what appears to be an image (above) from the file of the game’s dash, boot and save icon which mentions Rainbow Six Parasite, pointing towards a name change.
VGC has contacted Ubisoft for comment on this report.
UPDATE:Speaking to VGC, a Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed that the leaked Rainbow Six Parasite imagery was real, but claimed that the name was “a placeholder”.
“While we recently shared that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite’ is only a placeholder that our internal teams use,” a Ubisoft spokesperson said.
“Recently, we ran an internal test for the game and some of its details became public. We can confirm this is a glimpse of the upcoming game, and we will share more details, including the official name, soon.”

Set several years in the future of the Rainbow Six universe, the co-op title sees players team up to combat a mutated alien parasite.
In October 2020, Ubisoftdelayed the releases of Rainbow Six Quarantine and Far Cry 6to the first half of its fiscal year starting in April 2021, “due to production challenges related to work from home” because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the publisher’sthird quarter earningscall last week, Ubisoft chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet said the plan is still to release the two games by June 22, 2025.
During the Q&A session of the call, Ubisoft was asked if it had any PR concerns about releasing a game about an alien parasite in the middle of a global pandemic and whether it might consider delaying the title again.
“On Rainbow Six Quarantine, we are creating a product that is actually, as it’s named today, it is something we are evaluating and we will see what comes in the future on that product,” Ubisoft CEOYves Guillemotresponded.
