A Final Fantasy spin-off claimed to be planned as a PS5 exclusive is reportedly being developed by Nioh and Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja.
According to a report onFanbyte, “Final Fantasy Origin” will be announced during next month’s digital E3 schedule.
The game is said to play similar to Nioh or the Souls games, and take place around the world featured in the original Final Fantasy game released for the NES.
“Expect the title to play similar toNiohor other games in the genre, but to be more accessible for a wider audience,” Fanbyte said.
Square Enixis planning to release an alpha demo this summer, it’s claimed, with the publisher’s plan to solicit feedback while the game is still in an early state.
It was first claimed last week thatSquare Enix is working on a new PlayStation 5 exclusive Final Fantasy game, likely to be revealed at E3 next month.
The most recent Final Fantasy game,Final Fantasy 7 Remake, is currently exclusively available onPlayStationconsoles. The upcomingFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Intergradeis alsobilled as a PS5 exclusive for at least six months.
Sony Interactive Entertainmenthas a timed exclusivity arrangement in place forSquare Enix’s Forspokentoo. It will be released for PS5 andPCin 2022 and will reportedly be aPlayStation console exclusive for two years.
