PlayStation 5 has ended Nintendo Switch’s long-running streak as the US market’s best-selling console.
Prior to September,Nintendo’s system was the best-selling console in the US for a record 33 consecutive months based on units sold.

ButPS5took the crown in both unit and dollar sales last month afterSonywas able to make “a big number” of the supply constrained console available to consumers, NPD analystMat Piscatellasaid on Monday.
The market research company said consumer spending across video game hardware, content and accessories was up three percent compared to a year earlier, hitting a September record $4.4 billion.

Year to date spending reached $42.3 billion, representing a 12 percent increase compared to the first nine months of 2020.

On the software front, Madden NFL 22 topped September’s sales chart ahead of five new releases:FIFA 22, NBA2K22, Tales of Arise, Diablo II: Resurrected andDeathloop.
The other new entries to crack the monthly top 20 were Life is Strange: True Colors at No.10, Diablo Prime Evil Collection at No.12,Sonic Colors Ultimateat No.13, and WarioWare: Get It Together a No.15.
