PlayStation 4 games that aren’t backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 could yet have compatibility patched in, a developer has suggested.
On FridaySony Interactive EntertainmentdetailedPS5’s backwards compatibility featuresand named tenPS4games that would not work on the next-gen console.

A developer behind one game,PlayStationVR shooterDWVR, claimed in a series ofReddit posts(spotted byThis Gen Gaming) published after Sony’s announcement that studio Mad Triangles was working to ensure that the game could yet be compatible withPlayStation 5.
“I’m working on a patch to fix the issue, hopefully it can arrive before PS5 releases,” they wrote. “I will also see if the game can be improved for that PS5 boost mode, but need to experiment a lot first.”

The developer’s claims suggest that the other titles listed as not compatible with PlayStation 5 could yet be made available via updates.
The ten gameslistedas only playable on PS4 are DWVR, Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2, Just Deal With It!, Shadow Complex Remastered, Robinson: The Journey, We Sing, Hitman Go: Definitive Edition, Shadwen, and Joe’s Diner.

On Friday Sony said that the “overwhelming majority” of the 4,000+ PS4 games are playable on PS5 consoles.
However, it noted that “some functionalities that were available on the PS4 console may not be available on PS5 consoles” and “some PS4 games may exhibit errors or unexpected behavior” when played on the next-gen system.

“Select PS4 games will benefit from thePS5 console’s Game Boost, which may make PS4 games run with a higher or smoother frame rate,” it added.Ghost of Tsushimawill utilise PS5 Game Boostto support frame rates up to 60fps.
While PS5 players won’t be able to play their existing library of PS1,PS2orPS3games on the new console, legacy software will be playable with a PlayStation Now subscription.
