The Pokémon Company and Creatures Inc have said there may be room for more Detective Pikachu games.
In an interview withFamitsu, Creatures Inc managing director Hiroyuki Jinnai confirmed that the recently released sequelDetective Pikachu Returnswas the final game in the storyline that started with 2016’s Detective Pikachu for theNintendo 3DS.
But he said (viaGoogletranslate) that the team isn’t ruling out the possibility of a spin-off. “This concludes the story of Jinnai Tim, Pikachu, and Harry. However, all the staff also love the talking old man Pikachu, so maybe there will be a different development from the main story?”
PokémonCompany presidentTsunekazu Ishiharathen added: “I can’t make any promises at this point, but if Detective Pikachu Returns is well received and there is a great demand for it, there is room for a spin-off.”
Detective Pikachu Returns was released earlier this month forNintendo Switch. VGC’sDetective Pikachu Returns reviewcalled it “an enjoyable, if incredibly simple” introduction into the mystery genre for young players.
