PlayStation VR sales topped 4.2 million units worldwide as of June 27, 2025, Sony has claimed. Its console VR hardware launched almost two-and-a-half years ago, in October 2016.
The PS VR sales milestone was announced by Sid Shuman, the platform holder’s social media director, in aPlayStation Blog post.

It coincided with the release of the first episode ofPlayStation’s State of Play video series, aNintendo Direct-style broadcast featuring new trailers, game announcements and gameplay footage. The episode, which you can watch in full below, focuses on upcomingPS4and PS VR software.
Alongside a new trailer for PS4 exclusiveDays Gone,Sonyused the broadcast to make a string ofPS VR software announcements. Notably, the entirety ofNo Man’s Skywill be playable in VR when the game’s Beyond update launches this summer.

Meanwhile,Marvel’s Iron Man VRis in development exclusively for PS VR atCamouflaj, the studio behind stealth thriller République, and a release date forLondon Studio’sBlood & Truth, which is inspired by the London Heist experience featured inPlayStationVR Worlds, has now been confirmed.
