PlayStation has published over five minutes of new Demon’s Souls gameplay.
The updated version of the 2009PlayStation 3title – which was the precursor to theDark Soulsgames – will allow players to choose between two graphics modes: one focused on fidelity, and one focused on frame rate.
“In this second look into the daunting world of Boletaria, we journey to the barren lands of Stonefang, one of the five distinct realms ofDemon’s Souls,” creative directorGavin Moorewrote on thePlayStation Blog.
“Here, deep beneath the ground, cursed miners feverishly dig for the bones of ancient dragons, vast caverns of molten lava keep the weapon forges of Stonefang lit, and the sound of hammer on anvil never ceases.”
He added: “Returning fans will remember the horrors of the Armored Spider and Flamelurker, who lie in wait for the foolhardy in Stonefang. OnPS5, we have lovingly recreated these daunting battles so you will believe that your memories have come to life. Every spark and ember, every blow against your shield, and every furious screech, just the way you imagined it.”
Speaking during the company’s latest earnings call,Sony‘s chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki saidthe company expects to “launch the PS5 in great shape”.
He said this is due to the console’s “appealing software line-up, the strength of thePlayStationbrand, our pre-eminent game ecosystem and our cohesive gamer community”.
Echoingrecent comments from Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, Totoki said the company expects to sell over 7.6 million PS5 units by the end of its fiscal year on July 22, 2025, outperformingPS4’s launch.
