Resident Evil and Platinum Games veteran Kiyohiko Sakata has been revealed as the game director for Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake.
According to an interview with Japanese publicationDengeki, Sakata is leading the remake from his company Red Works.Resident Evil 3is also being co-developed byCapcomsubsidiary K2 Inc and new company M-Two Inc.

Sakata worked on the first fourResident Evilgames as a programmer and designer and notably was the lead coder forResident Evil 4.
He also spent several years at Platinum as programmer for Vanquish, Anarchy Reigns and The Wonderful 101.

VGC sources previously indicated that Resident Evil 3’s co-developerM-Twowas formed by Platinum’s former CEOTatsuya Minami.
Minami has a long history with Capcom, having started out as a designer onStreet FighterII Turbo and Super Ghouls and Ghosts, before producing games in the Resident Evil, Mega Man and Devil May Cry series.

Minami left Capcom to form ODD Ltd in 2006, which was later merged with SEEDS Inc to formPlatinumGames. Minami was president of PlatinumGames until his resignation in 2016.
M-Two was formed the following year with funding from Capcom, although it’s understood that the company is technically independent and has its own projects.

Resident Evil 3 remake is set to release on April 3, with multiplayer gameResident Evil Resistanceincluded.
