Valve has quietly released an update for Half-Life 2 which seemingly adds a number of new features and repairs some long-standing bugs. As spotted byValveYouTuberTyler McVicker, Valve has added a beta branch to the game onSteamwhich seems mainly designed to prepare the game for the Steam Deck handheld, but also adds some new features better suited toPCplayers. McVicker points out that because the update is still in beta form just now there are no patch notes yet, but he did note that the main focus of the update appears to be adapting the resolution scaling and the UI to verify the game looks good on Steam Deck’s 1280×800 resolution....
The latest update for Horizon Forbidden West is available to download now. Version 1.23 contains more than 40 bug fixes for the main game and its Burning Shores expansion. One notable fix includes an issue where players weren’t able to travel between the Burning Shores and Forbidden West areas on a flying mount at certain parts of the border. Other fixes have been made to quest bugs, world activities, side quests, machines, weapons and skills, among other things....

Microsoft has announced March’s Xbox Live Games with Gold titles. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (normally $19.99/£15.99) will then be available as a free download from March 16 to April 15. OnXbox 360, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (normally $39.99/£34.99) will be free forXboxLive Gold members from March 1-15. And from March 16 until the end of the month, Sonic Generations (normally $19.99/£14.99) will be free to download. NetEase and Marvel Games have announced Marvel Rivals, a team-based PVP shooter set in the Marvel Universe. The game is being developed by a new internal team atNetEasegames, which NetEase says is “composed of global talent who previously worked on hit franchises such as Call of Duty and Battlefield”. Former BioWare general manager Casey Hudson has confirmed that his latest studio is developing a brand-new sci-fi universe. Hudson announced theformation of Humanoid Studios last June, and this week the company revealed fresh details about what it’s working on via a newly launchedwebsite. “Our current project is a multi platform AAA game, focusing on character-driven narrative in an all-new science-fiction universe,” it says. Metroid Prime 4 developer Retro Studios has appointed veteran Halo creative Kyle Hefley as the studio’s new lead character artist, VGC understands. Hefley is a vastly experienced character modeller who has worked on more than 20 titles, including Call of Duty: Black Ops and Sleeping Dogs. Most relevant for Hefley’s new role, however, is his nine years atMicrosoft’s343 Industries. Hefley acted as senior character modeller for theHaloseries and modelled many or the armoured super soldiers and alien warriors that appeared in Halo 4, Halo 5 and the upcomingHalo Infinite, including Halo 5’s Master Chief....
The Minecraft Dungeons release date will fall in April 2020, publisher Microsoft has announced. It had previously been confirmed that the title would launch forPCand consoles next spring. Microsoftreleased the opening cinematic for the game (above) in October, while opening registrations for aMinecraft Dungeonsclosed beta. The action-adventure game, which is inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, is playable solo or co-op in a group of up to four people. Monster Hunter Wilds has set a new Capcom record by selling 10 million copies in its first month alone. The game, which was released in February, already broke aCapcomrecord by flying past 8 million copies sold in its opening week and is now closing in on half of Monster Hunter World’s lifetime sales. Warner Bros. Games will hold Mortal Kombat 1’s online server stress test this month. It will launch on June 23 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST / 5pm CEST and end at the same time on June 26. Only players based in North America, Latin America, Brazil and Europe are eligible to take part in the test....
MultiVersus is getting a large update next week which will add “lots of cool things”, its director has confirmed. When the game’s closed alpha launched in May the main menu had two icons greyed out, and these remain grey now that the game’s in open beta. These icons refer to a Guilds feature, where players will be able to join groups, and a Store which will presumably feature a rotating selection of cosmetics....
