As part of the studio’s annual report, the team claimed that it is “very confident about the final result,” (translated by@pl_evil). “We don’t hide it internally or externally – this is the most important test of our actions,” the report continued. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag’s lead actor says Ubisoft threatened legal action after he was filmed teasing a remake. Matt Ryan, who plays the game’s protagonist Edward Kenway, was filmed at a convention in Junehinting at a fan that a remake was on the way. Ryan was filmed asking a fan if they’d beaten the game. The Japanese release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be censored, Ubisoft has announced. A statement made on thepublisher’s Japanese X accountconfirmed that the Japanese version of the game will have some graphic content removed, despite it having a ‘Z’ rating from Japanese ratings organisation CERO. If a game has a CERO Z rating, that means it contains strong adult material and it’s illegal to sell the game to anyone under 18....

Security software company Denuvo has introduced new watermarking tech designed to identify leakers. TraceMark for Gaming is described as a “pioneering watermarking solution” which “leverages the core invisible watermark technology trusted by Hollywood studios, sports leagues, and pay-TV operators”. Billed as the first watermarking product aimed specifically at the games industry, TraceMark for Gaming can be integrated into a developer’s normal workflow and lets them apply watermarks to a game during development....

Capcom has reiterated its reverence for the Mega Man franchise, and said it’s continuing to consider ways to revive the classic game series. While a number of retro compilations of older Mega Man titles have been released in recent years, entirely new entries in the series are few and far between. Mega Man hasn’t seen new release since 2018’s Mega Man 11, and there was an eight year gap between that and the previous entry, 2010’s Mega Man 10....

Disney CEO Bob Iger has praised Universal for the performance of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
