An unknown Quake game has been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), days after plans for a series revival appeared to leak via a QuakeCon schedule. Thenew ESRB listingfor ‘Quake’ says the title will release forPC,PS4,PS5,Xbox One,Xbox Series X|SandNintendo Switch. The rating summary describes a scenario that could apply to any number of Quake games, so it’s not clear if this is the “revitalized edition” hinted atlast week, or a re-release of the original on new platforms....

The release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem will be revealed later this month, it’s been announced. The upcoming sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence received a new trailer during theXbox & Bethesda Showcaseon Sunday. Square Enix has indicated that it intends to establish and/or acquire new game studios, in the same month it confirmed it’s agreed to sell off its biggest Western developers. Swedish companyEmbracerannounced last week thatit has agreed to acquire a large part of Square Enix‘s western development armfor $300 million, includingCrystal Dynamics,Eidos Montreal,Square EnixMontreal and a catalogue of IPs including Tomb Raider and Deus Ex. The Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) decision to block Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard could successfully be appealed, two analysts have said. After months of investigation, on Wednesday the CMA became the first of the three major global regulators topublish its final report on the $69 billion deal. It said it was preventing the merger of theXboxand Call of Duty companies over concerns it would “alter the future of the fast-growing cloud gaming market, leading to reduced innovation and less choice for UK gamers over the years to come”....

Retro video game high score chaser Billy Mitchell has had his Donkey Kong scores reinstated to an extent on the Twin Galaxies website, six years after they were removed. Capcom has greenlit a Resident Evil 4 remake. Following its reimaginings ofResident Evil 2and 3, multiple development sources have told VGC that theResident Evil 4remake has now entered full production with an estimated release window in 2022.
