The Pokémon Company has revealed a first look at some of the merchandise coming to the Pokémon Center at the Pokémon World Championships this August. ThePokémonWorld Championships will take place in Anaheim, California, from August 14 until August 18. At the event, players from around the world compete in categories includingPokémon Go, VGC, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and more. Alongside the Pokémon World Championships,The Pokémon Companywill host another of its popular pop-up Pokémon Center stores....

Remedy Entertainment has said players should expect a “more regular cadence of sequels” for Alan Wake and Control. Afterstruggling for over a decade to make a sequelto 2010’s original,Alan Wake 2was finally released last October, while a sequel to 2019’sControlis currently in development. RemedyCEO Tero Virtala discussed plans for the two franchises as part of the Finnish company’s full-year financial results, which were published on Wednesday. “With Alan Wake and Control we now have two established franchises, and our ambition is to grow them into franchises that have high brand recognition, steadily growing user base, more regular cadence of sequels and an ability to generate revenues and profits at a high level,” he said....

It’s been nearly eight years since the last main entry in the Ace Attorney series. 2016 was the last time gaming’s most famous lawyer Phoenix Wright gelled back his hair, put on his blue suit and yelled “objection” across the courtroom. Sega president Shuji Utsumi has called Sonic Superstars a “disappointment.” TheSegapresident has said that while he thinks the franchise’s most recent release,Sonic X Shadow Generationsis “awesome,” he didn’t think Superstars turned out as well as the company hoped. “We were trying to do something creative withSonic Frontiers,” said Utsumi, speaking toEurogamer. “WithSonic Superstarsit turned out to be a disappointment, in terms of the outcome compared to what we delivered....

Bloober Team and Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remake has sold over one million copies, the pair have announced. That figure includes both physical and digital sales since the game released on October 8 forPCandPlayStation 5. “Silent Hill 2is a skilfully handled retelling of one of the medium’s most loved survival horror games,”according to VGC’s review. “It stays faithful to the original (to a fault at times) but breathes enough new life into it to simultaneously ensure that long-time fans will appreciate the respect shown, while newcomers won’t find it antiquated....

Regardless of how well the Silent Hill 2 remake does, you’ve got to hand it to Bloober Team for turning around a situation that killed so many other games. Following the initial positive response to its announcement and its first trailer, subsequent gameplay footage was met with so much negativity thatBloober Team’s president actually had to come out and say it wasn’t responsible for the game’s marketing, andthat it didn’t represent the game....

Rise of the Ronin feels like a lot of other games. During the first few hours that we’re able to cover in this preview, we were reminded ofAssassin’s Creed,Ghost of Tsushima, Nioh (we’ll let them away with that one), and, most obviously,FromSoftware’sSekiro. WhileRise of the Roninisn’t quite a Souls game and sails much closer to something like the aforementioned Ghost of Tsushima, it’s impossible not to be reminded of the FromSoftware classic when in combat....

A new studio helmed by StarCraft 2 multiplayer lead David Kim has teased its debut RTS project, which it says will be revealed during Summer Game Fest in June. Uncapped Games is a new California-based studio established by developers of strategy classics such as StarCraft, Warcraft, Dawn of War, and Company of Heroes, underneathTencent’s Lightspeed Studios brand. In a new documentary video published on Friday, the studio detailed its plans for an RTS game that appeals to a wider audience of strategy players than its developers’ past work....

The first footage of Mortal Kombat 1’s Jean-Claude Van Damme DLC has been shown. Van Damme appears as a special alternative skin for Johnny Cage, which can be unlocked by players who purchase the Premium Edition of the game. Nintendo has published new images showing Switch 2’s redesigned Switch Online app. The app, which is accessible from the home menu, allows users to see its library of retro games, change settings, and view subscription status. TheSwitchOnline app is separate from the individual retro console apps, such as forNintendo GameCubeor Game Boy, which retain a familiar design on Switch 2. VGC recently visited the National Museum of Scotland’s Game On exhibition, charting 50 years of video games. As part of that exhibition, the team has assembled a display celebratingRockstar North, Scotland’s most famous games studio.
