Nintendo has confirmed the fourth game coming to Switch 2’s GameCube library. Super Mario Strikers – known in Europe as Mario Smash Football – will be coming to the service on July 3. The first game in the Mario Strikers series, it’s a street football game for 1-4 players. Players put together a five-person squad, choosing one of eight team captains (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi and Donkey Kong) and from a selection of four sidekicks (Toad, Hammer Brother, Birdo, Koopa Troopa)....

The first episode of the Halo TV series will be shown on UK television tonight. The show, which was released on Paramount + in the US earlier this year, will finally come to the UK, however, the release will be unconventional. The first episode of the show is being shown on UK broadcaster Channel 5 tonight, June 22 at 10 PM. However, the show won’t be available on My5 after the broadcast, and none of the remaining episodes will be shown on TV....

The director of the upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer project has said he’s still working on the game. As part of a tweet about completingSuper Mario Bros. Sony Interactive Entertainment has released the launch trailer for The Last of Us Part 1, which is viewable below. The Last of Us Part 1is billed as a faithful reproduction of the original game, which was released forPS3in 2013, with modernised gameplay and controls, plusexpanded accessibility options. The Last of Us Part Iwill be released for PS5 on September 2, with the review embargo lifting on August 31 at 8am PT / 4pm BST....

Activision has officially confirmed that the new Call of Duty: Warzone is in development and will be revealed later this year. The announcement was made as part ofActivision Blizzard’s Q1 2022 financial results, where it was claimed that the newWarzonewill be built from scratch alongside the next main Call of Duty game, which is a new Modern Warfare. “The Call of Duty teams delivered substantial gameplay improvements forVanguardand Warzone in the first quarter,”Activision‘s statement read....

The PlayStation 2 is the first console to be added to the Future Technology Heritage registry in Japan. The list, which is maintained by the National Museum of Nature and Science, covers all of Japan’s science and technology accomplishments. Started in 2008, the list now has more than 380 items which were created in Japan and “have had a significant impact on the state of people’s lives, economy, society and culture”....

Does The Super Mario Bros Movie have post-credit scenes? The answer is a resounding yes – in fact, it has two of them. While they’re not very long, one of them in particular is very interesting because it gives a fairly obvious hint about what’s going to happen if there’s a sequel to the movie. Ubisoft Massive is looking for playtesters for its upcoming Star Wars game. Massivesaidon Friday that it’s prioritising people who live close to its studio in Malmö, Sweden, where testing will take place. Players interested in participating canregister here. UK gaming charity SpecialEffect will be presented with the Special Award at the 20th BAFTA Games Awards. The charity, which was founded 17 years ago, will receive the prestigious award at the ceremony on April 11. Since it was set up by former teacher Mick Donegan in 2007,SpecialEffecthas focused on helping physically disabled people, especially children, play video games. The charity works with developers and peripheral manufacturers to create special modified controllers and eye-tracking sensors, to help make games more accessible to everyone....

Multiple PlayStation users have reported that some digital games are no longer booting on classic consoles such as PS3 and PS Vita. As summarised byKotaku,multipleusershave reported that their PSOne Classic version of Chrono Cross now displays a decades-old expiration date and will not boot after being downloaded. The issue coincides with the release ofthe new Chrono Cross remasterfor modern consoles. However, there is evidence that the problem extends to other older games too....
