Bandai Namco could be remastering Klonoa and Klonoa 2, according to two new trademarks it’s registered in Japan. The publisher has registered ‘Waffuu Encore’ and ‘1&2 Encore’ as trademarks,Gematsureports. Although the Klonoa games weren’t known as Waffuu in Japan, one of Klonoa’s trademark catchphrases is “Wahoo”, whichBandai Namcomay have translated to “Waffuu”. The Encore suffix has already been used in recent Bandai Namco remasters in Japan. Mr Driller DrillLand and Katamari Damacy Reroll, which both released last year, were named Mr Driller Encore and Katamari Damacy Encore in Japan....

DICE will hold Battlefield 2042’s technical playtests next week. Six playtest sessions will be available between August 12 and August 15, five lasting for three hours and the other one for nine hours, according to email invites distributed byEAand viewed by VGC. The technical playtests were originally scheduled to take place in July but were delayed to giveDICEthe opportunity to test the game’srecently announced cross-play functionality. Testing will accommodate “a few thousand participants” ahead of wider testing in anopen beta scheduled for September....

BioWare has published new artwork for the next Dragon Age game. The concept art was posted by the game’s executive producer on Twitter, who wished fans a Happy New Year. BioWare released the first full trailer for the new Dragon Age gamelast month. The video offers the first look at the RPG instalment sinceGamescomin August, when theEAstudio said the game was still in early development. “We’re still in early production but we thought it was time to give you the very first look at howBioWare’s passionate team of developers are crafting this very special game,” the studio said at the time....

BioWare has provided an update on the development of Dragon Age 4 and Mass Effect 4. In a blog post, studio general managerGary McKaysaid the new Dragon Age game is at a much more advanced stage than the next Mass Effect. “For the next Dragon Age, we are right in the middle of production, which is a great feeling,” hewrote. “Our blueprint was completed last year, so we’re now focused on building out our vision: creating amazing environments, deep characters, strong gameplay, impactful writing, emotional cinematics – and much more....

Activision has revealed Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season 5’s content roadmap. The Season 5 update,which launches on August 12, introduces new multiplayer maps and modes alongside a variety of fresh Zombies features. Cold War’s new Double Agent mode is billed as “an investigative multiplayer party experience” in which several players are tasked with sabotaging the mission. It supports up to 10 players who take on one of three roles: Double Agents must eliminate everyone else or successfully set off explosive charges around the map, The Investigator can use clues to target suspected Double Agents as Wanted criminals, while Operatives team up to identify and eliminate the Double Agents....

Activision has launched Call of Duty Mobile Season 8, The Forge. Key features of the new season include multiplayer map Highrise and multiplayer mode Juggernaut. Set atop a skyscraper with office buildings on opposite sides of the map, Highrise originally appeared in 2009’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Multiplayer mode Juggernaut, which previously featured in 2011’sModern Warfare 3, sees five players attempting to take down and become the Juggernaut....

Call of Duty Warzone’s Rambo skin will be released on May 20. A teaser trailer for the skin shows the iconic action movie character portrayed by Sylvester Stallone equipped with his signature compound bow and flaming arrow. Warzoneis set to introduce skins for a number of 80s action heroes alsoincluding Die Hard’s John McClane. The skins will arrive this season and tie in with Warzone’s new 1984 Verdansk map, which went live in April....

EA’s Codemasters studio has said it will stop development on future rally games, ending a decades-long run which started with the first Colin McRae game in 1998. On Wednesday,Codemastersannounced that its partnership with the World Rally Championship (WRC) had ended, and that it would thus be “pausing” development plans for future rally titles. EAacquired Codemasters, the esteemed British studio behind the Colin McRae and Dirt rally games, in 2021....

Sega has announced Company of Heroes Collection for Nintendo Switch. It will include an updated version of the original Company of Heroes and the real-time strategy game’s two expansions, Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor, which will be making their console debut upon release this autumn / fall. Company of Heroes Collection is being developed by port specialist Feral Interactive, which also handled the Switch version of Alien Isolation forSega, rather than series creator and in-house studioRelic Entertainment....

CD Projekt Red has announced the first Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. Revealed during a live stream on Tuesday, the content will include free cosmetic items set to be introduced as part ofthe game’s 1.3 patch, which will be released “really soon”. They will include new jackets, a new car, and a Johnny Silverhand alternative appearance, which players must reach certain points in the game to gain access to. CD Projekt Red “massively expanded” Cyberpunk 2077’s character creation options based on feedback from the game’s E3 2018 demo, it’s revealed. During its hands-off demos at the most recent E3 andGamescomshows,CD Projekt Redasked those in attendance to fill out feedback forms. AtE3 2019, CDPR told VGCit would be boldin implementing changes based on those responses. During anew Cyberpunk 2077 interview at Gamescomthis month, VGC asked spokesperson and senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers what changes the studio had implemented based on feedback toCyberpunk 2077’s E3 2019 demo and she revealed that the most significant changes actually came from the previous year’s show....
