The Xbox Series consoles’ monthly sales in Europe were higher than those of the PlayStation 5 for the first time in February. That’s according to the latest GSD market report (as published byGamesIndustry.biz), which shows that moreXboxSeries consoles were sold in Europe thanPS5consoles. The data covers 10 countries in mainland Europe, but doesn’t include the UK or Germany. However, VGC understands that theXbox Series X/Salso outsold the PS5 in the UK in February....

Xbox Series X’s recently leaked controllers have pointed to a potential release date in the first week of November. According to journalist Tom Warren,the next-gen game pads which made their way into public hands this weekwere marked with a sticker instructing retailers not to sell or display them “before July 26, 2025.” In addition, another member of the public who has obtained a Series X/S controller claims thatthe peripheral’s 1-year warranty is listed to expire on June 08, 2025....

Peter Molyneux has claimed that his newly announced game, Masters of Albion is set in the same world as Fable, despite being unaffiliated with Microsoft, or the Fable franchise. Molyneux announced his new game,Masters of Albion, during Gamescom Opening Night Liveon Tuesday. A new 3D remaster of Ridiculous Fishing is the headline addition to Apple Arcade next month. A Sony Interactive Entertainment patent for a player coaching system has been published. Filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office last June but only published on December 30, it covers “systems and methods for coaching a user for game play.” The methoddescribedidentifies when a player has “fallen below a skill threshold” during a passage of play before providing them with hints to aid their progress. It does so by using a recorded section of gameplay and overlaying images with “self-coaching” content....

The record for the most valuable game of all time has been shattered by a sealed copy of Super Mario 64. The pristine conditionNintendo 64titlesold for $1.56 million, making it easily the highest price anyone has ever spent on a video game at auction. The record had already been broken two days earlier, when a sealed, early production copy ofThe Legend of Zeldasold for $870,000. Activision has officially confirmed that Black Ops 6 is this year’s Call of Duty game. Amazon Games has delayed its MMO New World for the fourth time. The game was originally scheduled to launch last May before being delayed to August 2020, then early 2021,and more recently August 31. It will now launch on September 28,Amazonsaid on Wednesday. Respawn says it isn’t planning to increase the frequency of Apex Legends game updates, to keep up with Epic’s prolific Fortnite output. Astro’s Playroom developer Team Asobi has committed to continuing to make family-friendly games in its new role as a standalone PlayStation studio. Babylon’s Fall’s directors have confirmed development is continuing on updates for the game, despite significantly low player numbers on PC since launch. TheSquare EnixandPlatinumGamesonline game has had a disastrous launch on the platform, with thePCplayer countbriefly dropping to just one user earlier this month. At the time of publishing, the game is placed number 3051 onSteam‘s live list of most-played games, according toSteam Charts.
