Nintendo reportedly briefed Activision Blizzard on plans forSwitch 2late last year. That’s according to internalActivisionmaterials that have emerged as part ofMicrosoft’s legal battle with the US Federal Trade Commission, which were viewed byThe Verge. According to the materials, Activision executives, including CEOBobby Kotick, met withNintendoexecutives, including presidentShuntaro Furukawa, to discussSwitch’s successor on Jul 08, 2025. Briefing materials sent to Kotick ahead of the meeting by Chris Schnakenberg, head of Activision’s platform strategy and partner relations, appear to suggest that the company expected the console’s performance to be comparable toPS4andXbox One....

Nintendo has told VGC that it currently has no plans to increase Switch prices. Citing the challenging global economic environment, on ThursdaySonysaid it had“made the difficult decision” to raise PS5 pricesin Europe, Japan and parts of North America. Microsoftsubsequently told VGC that itdoesn’t intend to raise Xbox prices, andNintendohas now told us that it also has no plans to increase the price of its hardware. Nintendo’s president says the Switch will continue to see new software in the next fiscal year. In a new interview withNikkei,Shuntaro Furukawawas asked if the lifecycle of theSwitchcould be expanded further than the six and a half years it’s already been on sale. Furukawa replied thatNintendowould continue to focus on the Switch until the end of the current fiscal year ending March 2024, and would continue to support the console with software in the following fiscal year ending March 2025....

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will release for Nintendo Switch in October in both physical and digital formats. The game is a “ground-up remake” of 1997’s Abe’s Oddysee, with new visuals, areas and controls. The remake was originally released for consoles andPCin 2014. The physical standard and limited editions of New ‘n’ Tasty are available at retailers for pre-order beginning today, according to co-publisher Microids. This week marks the end of an era for many television viewers, especially in the UK and Australia. In a tweet from @finalfantasyvii,Square Enixrevealed that the upgrade will be available starting from Thursday. The enhanced version, which was released in June with Final Fantasy 7: Intergrade was free to owners of the original game, but not those who redeemed it viaPlayStationPlus. PlayStation 5’s latest system update adds a much-requested option to remove the notification icon after taking a screenshot. Before the update, any time players took a screenshot a small icon would appear in the corner to notify players that the screenshot had been captured. However, because the console doesn’t separate its OS user interface from the game while taking screenshots, if players took another screenshot while the icon was displayed, that icon would appear in the new screenshot (and create a new icon of its own)....
