Warner has released a new Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer featuring upcoming DLC fighter Takeda Takahashi. It showcases Takeda’s Shirai Ryu inspired moveset, including his ability to use serrated whips, explosive kunai projectiles and teleportation. Takahashi will join the game on July 23 for Kombat Pack owners, ahead of the DLC’s general release on July 30. New DLC Kameo Fighter Ferra will also be available for Kombat Pack owners and standalone purchase on July 23....

Bandai Namco has announced that Pac-Man World 2 is getting a remake, like its predecessor did. Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac is coming toSwitch 2,PS5,Xbox Series X/S,Switch,PS4andPCon September 26. Pac-Man World 2 was originally released in 2002 onPS2,GameCubeandXbox. This remake gives the game a modern makeover, as well as “expanded levels and Pac-Village, quality of life improvements and voice acting”. It appears that this includes the return of Martin Sherman, who voiced Pac-Man in the third game Pac-Man World 3....

Neil Druckmann has confirmed that he has a concept for a third The Last of Us game in mind and that he thinks there will be one more chapter to the story. Speaking inGroundedII, a new documentary detailing the development ofThe Last of Us Part 2, Druckmann said that he wondered for years about a potential third game, but could never think of something that excited him. Now, the director says that has changed....

Nintendo and Illumination have announced a new Super Mario Bros. film. According to an announcement fromNintendo, the film, which is based on “the world of Super Mario Bros.,” is set for release on July 10, 2025. The movie will again be produced by Chris Meledandri, Founder and CEO of Illumination, andShigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director, Fellow of Nintendo, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, and written by Matthew Fogel....

Nintendo is ending support for X, formerly Twitter, on Nintendo Switch. Beginning on June 10,users will no longer be able to upload images to the service directly fromNintendo Switchmachines, and the Nintendo Switch will no longer allow players to send friend requests to social media friends using X integration. Some games with specific in-game functionality surrounding this feature will also change. The ability to post Super Smash Bros. ultimate screenshots from the album folder to Smash World in the Nintendo Switch Online smart device app, will also become unavailable....

NBCUniversal has released the first trailer for its upcoming game show version of Frogger. The classic arcade game is being turned into a TV show and will be exclusive on NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service in the US. The Frogger show will be similar to other physical contest shows like Wipeout and American Ninja Warrior. Players have to make their way across an obsctacle course based on the hazards inKonami‘s 1981 arcade game....

Dying Light 2 will release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in spring 2020. A new teaser debuted atMicrosoft‘s E3 conference earlier today gave us our first glimpse of the game’s new protagonist, Aiden Caldwell, and “a world torn apart by the ravages of the infection, where every decision counts and death lurks around every corner”. The sequel picks up 15 years after the events of the original game in a post-apocalyptic world....

The re-release of Scott Pilgrim vs the World arrives on Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC this week, more than six years after it was delisted from digital stores. This actually happens more than you may think, but the delisting of games usually goes by without much attention being paid to it because the games in question are often still available in physical form. Hundreds of titles – including numerousCodemastersracing games from the DiRT, F1 andGRIDseries,Activision’sSpider-Mangames and previous entries inMicrosoft’sForzaandForza Horizonseries – are no longer available to buy digitally, but because they’re still on disc there’s at least still a way to buy and play them....

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that eight Yakuza games are headed to PlayStation Plus this year. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will then be released as part of August’s Game Catalog line-up for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members. Niantic has detailed the Pokemon Go 7th anniversary event that will begin later this week, which will include the return of Shiny Mew. For $5 / £5 players will be able to purchase the Masterwork Research, which will let players catch Shiny Mew, one of the only opportunities to capture the elusive mythical Pokemon in the history of the franchise. New Pokemon set to be added to the game include a Wartortle and a Blastoise wearing a party hat, the latter of which can appear in its shiny form....

PlayStation 5 has been dominating UK console sales over the past year, and in particular the last six months. According to GfK data published onGamesIndustry.biz, PS5 accounted for 43% of total console sales over the 12 months ended in October 2023. And in the past six months, PS5 accounted for over half (51%) of all UK console sales. “Recent PS5 highlights coming from unrestricted sales on the standard PS5 hardware model, aggressive price promotions in July and August, and the recentEA Sports FC 24bundle,” said GfK games boss Dorian Bloch....
