Ubisoft has announced plans to host a closed beta for Skull & Bones this summer. The test will run from August 25-28 and players canregisternow for the chance to participate. Sony has confirmed it will hold a State of Play live stream this Thursday, May 27 featuring an “extensive look” at Horizon Forbidden West gameplay. Sony has noted for the first time that more players are using PS5 each month than PS4. During Sony’s business segment meeting in May 2024,Sony Interactive Entertainmentshared an update on thePlayStationbusiness. This included a slide which showed the number of monthly active users on PS4 and PS5 was around 49 million each, making for a 50 / 50 split. The company has now held a similar meeting this year, with SIE providing a similar presentation with updated slides....

Roguelike platformer Spelunky 2 will release next month, on September 15. Developer Derek Yu revealed the news during aPlayStationState of Playbroadcast, in which he said he hopes the game appeals to both old and new players with the addition of online multiplayer. Developed by Mossmouth and BlitWorks, the game wasannouncedin October 2017 as “coming first” toPS4andSteam. “In Spelunky 2, the story deepens as more randomly-generated adventures beckon,” teased the reveal trailer....

Nintendo used its latest Partner Direct showcase to announce a new Super Monkey Ball game for Switch. Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble “launches exclusively on theNintendo Switchsystem on June 25”, according to the platform holder. The newest entry inSega’s series features over 200 brand-new stages with optional motion controls. There’s a new spin dash move that lets players blast over obstacles and create shortcuts to their objective. It supports four-player local co-op and up to 16-player online battles in modes including Race (be the first to the finish line), Banana Hunt (grab the falling bananas), and Robot Smash (team up to defeat robots)....
The studio behind the controversial MMO The Day Before has said it’s planning a beta and is working to get the game back on Steam. Developer Fntastic delayed the second most wishlisted game onSteamby eight months in January, after what it claimed to be a surprise copyright claim on the name of the title. Next week’s free Epic Games Store titles have been revealed. Daedalic Entertainment’s point-and-click adventure games Deponia: The Complete Journey and Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth, and David Wehle’s 3rd-person exploration game The First Tree, will be free to download from April 15-22. They will replace Terrible Posture Games’ 3 out of 10: Season Two, a “unique playable sitcom” in which players “experience all the chaos of game development at the world’s worst game dev studio”....
The first trailer for Flashback 2 has been revealed. Developed by the first game’s creator Paul Cuisset and Microids Studio Lyon, Flashback 2 will be released later this year to celebrate the original’s 30th anniversary. “Three decades after the first adventures of Conrad B.Hart, Paul Cuisset and Microids Studio Lyon are eager to invite all players to enjoy this new chapter in the Flashback franchise,” a Microids statement reads. “After defeating the Master Brain in the previous episode, Conrad and his allies are once again facing the Morphs species, threatening all civilizations....
