Nintendo is reportedly planning to bring more 3DS franchises to Nintendo Switch.
There are still “many people to whom we have yet to communicate the appeal of Switch Lite”,NintendopresidentShuntaro Furukawasaid on Thursday (via theTelegraph).
Furukawa went on to say the company will make more 3DS franchises available on Switch to convey the appeal of the handheld-only Switch Lite model, according to Wall Street Journal reporterTakashi Mochizuki.
With sales of the eight-and-a-half-year-old 3DS in decline, it’s not the first time Furukawa has spoken about attracting more handheld gamers to Switch.
“Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shieldare being developed to emphasise the fun of playingNintendo Switchin handheld mode,”he said earlier this year.
Sword & Shield will be the first core entries in the RPG series to be released on a home consolewhen they hit Switch on November 15.
Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training series, which has sold tens of millions of copies on Nintendo’s handheld consoles,will debut on Switch in December.
Furukawa also reportedly said on Thursday that Nintendo intends to introduce a heavily requested multiplayer mode forMario Kart Tour, but he wouldn’t offer any further details on its plans.
Nintendo’s president was talking following the publication of the company’s financial results for the six months ended September 30.
The firm’s latest sales data revealed Switch Lite, which launched on September 20,sold almost two million units in 11 days, whileThe Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakeningsold over 3.1 million copies during the same period.
