Nintendo has said it’s nullifying Jackpot’s recent Splatoon 3 World Championship win after members of the team violated its community guidelines.
WhileNintendodidn’t specify the nature of the violations, its decision follows the recentdocumenting ofracist commentsby Jackpot members, who reportedly used racist language and jokes freely on a number of occasions.

“It has come to our attention that certain members of team Jackpot, the team that recently won theSplatoon 3World Championship, acted in a manner that is not in line with our Community Guidelines while playing the Splatoon 3 game,” Nintendo of Americasaidin a statement.
“As a result, team Jackpot’s win will be considered vacated, and the team will not receive trophies associated with the event.

“Additionally, the in-game Splashtag banner commemorating their win will be adjusted via an upcoming software update. Nintendo cares deeply about our players and our community, and we take our responsibility to uphold our Community Guidelines seriously.”

The Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024 and theMario Kart 8 DeluxeWorld Championship 2024 were held in April.

They were originally due to take place in January at Nintendo Live 2024, but they had to be rescheduled after theevent was cancelled due to safety concerns.
A man suspected of being responsible for death threats that led to the cancellation of the event in Tokyowas charged in April.
