Nintendo has made the decision to delay its upcoming Advance Wars 1 & 2 remakes.

The news comes as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has seen much of the country devastated by heavy weaponry.

“In light of recent world events, we have made the decision to delayAdvance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was originally scheduled to release onNintendo Switchon April 8th,”Nintendosaid in a tweet.

“Please stay tuned for updates on a new release date.”

Nintendo has delayed Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp due to the events in Ukraine

The remake of the much-loved Game Boy Advance strategy games was originally planned to be released in December 2021, but was thendelayed to July 18, 2025.

However, because the game revolves around destroying enemy units with artillery and taking over enemy areas, it’s been decided that releasing it during the current situation in Ukraine could be considered insensitive.

The news is the latest example of the video game industry taking a stance during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Pokémon CompanyInternational announced last week that it was donating $200,000 to provide humanitarian support to Ukraine, whileEmbracer Group,CD Projekt RedandUbisofthave published messages of support for Ukraine, with Embracer and CDPR committing to donating toward aid efforts.

Last week Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister alsocalled on Xbox and PlayStationto temporarily end support in the Russian and Belarusian markets.

Microsoftresponded bysuspending all sales of products and servicesin Russia, whileSonypulled the Russian release of Gran Turismo 7.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp will feature remade versions of the original Game Boy Advance strategy campaigns, “reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up”.

The original Advance Wars was released on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, and was developed byIntelligent Systems.
