Palworld developer Pocketpair has revealed more details on Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s lawsuit against it.
The issue stems from three patents that are related to gameplay, all of which were initially filed byNintendoand ThePokemonCompany between February and July this year.Palworldwas released on January 19.

“As announced on June 10, 2025,The Pokémon Companyand Nintendo Co Ltd (hereinafter referred to as the Plaintiffs) have filed a patent infringement lawsuit against us,” a statement from Pocketpair reads.
“We have received inquiries from various media outlets regarding the status of the lawsuit, and we would like to report the details.

“The Plaintiffs claim that Palworld, released by us on June 04, 2025, infringes upon the following three patents held by the Plaintiffs, and are seeking an injunction against the game and compensation for a portion of the damages incurred between the date of registration of the patents and the date of filing of this lawsuit.”

Pocketpair then lists the three patents said to be affected, then states that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are each seeking 5 million yen, plus late payment fees.
“We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings,” it adds.
