Naughty Dog has said it’s working on “several cool things” but has asked fans to remain patient for news about its current projects.
“If you tweet at me, asking about a future project, I can’t say anything… Please stay patient,” studio co-president and The Last of Us Part 2 directorNeil Druckmanntweetedon Tuesday. “We have several cool things we can’t wait to share with you. As soon as we can, we will!”

While other first-partyPS4games includingGod of War,Ghost of TsushimaandDays Gonehave received well publicisedPS5performance updates,Naughty Dogand publisherSonyhave remained silent on the subject of next-gen enhancements for The Last of Us Part 2 (although some were added quietly), which released in June 2020.
The original The Last of Us released at the tail end of thePS3generation in June 2013 before a remastered version arrived for PS4 in July 2014, seven months into the newer console’s cycle. While nothing has been announced, it would be unsurprising were Naughty Dog to remaster The Last of Us Part 2 for PS5 and perhaps launch it alongside the next multiplayer entry in the series.

Druckmann announced in September 2019 that The Last of Us Part 2wouldn’t include a multiplayer componentas originally planned because the studio “wanted to take all of the resources to make this the biggest game we’ve ever done”.
However, in a follow-up statement, Naughty Dog pledged to release a new The Last of Us multiplayer offering after its work on the sequel was complete.

“You will eventually experience the fruits of our team’s online ambition, but not as part ofThe Last of Us Part II,” it said. “When and where it will be realized is still to be determined. But rest assured, we are as big a fan as Factions as the rest of our community and are excited to share more when it’s ready.”
Footage of what appeared to be an updated version of the original game’s Factions multiplayer modeleaked in August 2020.

Following its release last summer,The Last of Us Part 2 salescleared four million copies worldwide in three days, making it the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive to date.
The BAFTA Games Awards announced its nominations for 2021 on Tuesday, withThe Last of Us Part 2 up for a record 13 prizes.

“We are extremely grateful for all the recognition our game is garnering,” Druckmanntweeted. “We won’t always get the wins or the noms we want. Please don’t diminish any other game’s achievements to prop us up. Lots of love to go around. Thanks for your support.”
