Weapon Tuning has been removed from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
Ahead of next week’s release,Sledgehammer Gameshas posted ablogdetailing the game’s progression system, as well as the Gunsmith, which is the in-game screen for customizing weapons.
However, one of the most granular ways to customize weapons, Weapon Tuning, won’t be featured in this year’s game.
“Based on community feedback, Sledgehammer Games has removed the Weapon Tuning feature present in MWII and has made further improvements to make Gunsmith easier to use. This change to Weapon Tuning applies to both MWII and MWIII weapons that utilize modifications,” reads an explanation as part of the blog.
This change will also affectWarzone, and will be retroactive toModern Warfare2 guns. It’s currently unclear what will happen to players’ pre-built loadouts that feature tuned guns, but they will likely be returned to stock settings, in some cases massively changing how they perform in-game.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3releases next week, however for players who pre-ordered the digital edition of the game, the single-player portion was release on Thursday.
But now, following that release, players have reported that the campaign is clocking in at around 3 to 4 hours in length.
Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to last year’s Modern Warfare 2. Development is being led by Sledgehammer, in collaboration withInfinity Ward, whileTreyarchis in charge of its Zombies mode.
